On Wednesday, July 21st, we learned and painted with Ms. Jennifer Norton. Ms. Jennifer Norton is an Artist, Art Teacher, & Art Therapist originally from the south side of Chicago. She guided us as we painted the Chicago Skyline to coordinate with our novel, "A Long Way From Chicago". She encouraged students and staff to use their creativity and to allow her model as inspiration, but not something to copy from. She taught basic painting vocabulary, painting on canvas techniques, as well as, how to mix paint to achieve the ideal shade.
Students completed a reflection of the day and here are some thoughts from them:
