The CD Program will not be in session.
Enjoy your days off, stay warm!
Due to dangerously cold predicted wind chills, all District 230 schools and facilities will close on Wednesday, January 30th and Thursday, January 31st. There will be no school, activities, sports, or any other use of the building during this time-frame.
The CD Program will not be in session. Enjoy your days off, stay warm! :Mrs. Granato-Wagner, Mrs. Kellermann, and Ms. Healy have started the "Disability Awareness" unit in their 4th hour Jr/Sr Interpersonal Applications course. The students began with a "brain art" project, in which they used their intrapersonal intelligences, as well as, their visual spatial intelligences to create sections of a brain template in the areas of their academic life, family, their interests, strengths, and their future. They did an excellent job.
As the unit progresses, they will learn components of brain science such as, the lobes of the brain and their functions! This unit is always taught with sensitivity, honesty, and respect. Students will increase in self awareness and learn to advocate for themselves through this unit, which will support them presently and in their future. ![]() Hello CD families! My name is Sarah Healy and I will be interning under Mrs. Granato-Wagner for the first half of the spring semester. I graduated from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 2017 where I received my bachelor’s degree in Speech and Hearing Science and am currently a second year graduate student studying Speech-Language Pathology at Saint Xavier University. In preparation for my graduation in May, I will complete my school practicum in the CD program until March, and then I will move onto my hospital placement. While with Mrs. Granato-Wagner, I will slowly begin leading therapy sessions and classes. Additionally, I will be a part of IEP Annual Review meetings, as well as, IEP Eligibility meetings. I am excited to learn from this highly regarded cooperative program and know that this experience will add to my growth as a professional in the speech/language field. I am also an Andrew High School graduate, so I am very excited to return as a student teacher! When I am not at school, I enjoy reading, walking my dog, and spending time with friends and family. I am looking forward to working with the CD students and staff this semester! |
