Thanksgiving is approaching fast, and it is a time to celebrate all that we are thankful for. Unfortunately, some families struggle during this holiday season, and the CD Program wants to help. For two weeks, we are going to support another SWCCCASE program’s food drive that will directly benefit some of their student’s families. We are asking that any students who are able and willing to bring in non-perishable food items ( canned goods, boxed food, and sealed bags of food) as well as paper products (toilet paper, paper towels, tissue paper, etc.) to please do so between:
Next week (October 24 - 28) is Red Ribbon Week.Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco, drug and violence prevention awareness campaign observed annually in October in the United States. Red Ribbon week started in honor of DEA agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena. Kiki had been working undercover for 4 years in Guadalajara, Mexico infiltrating a drug cartel. His hard work led him to uncover a multimillion-dollar drug manufacturing operation. Drug cartel leaders sought revenge for the exposure, killing many informants. Kiki was one of the murdered informants. Kiki demonstrated courage, persistence and honor in his fight against drug manufacturing and distribution. That is why we honor his goal, as well as our own goal, to have a safe and drug free community.
At Andrew High School we are doing a contest during Advisory for the best Drug Awareness poster. The CD Advisories went a little above and beyond to help spread the message. There will be voting by the Red Ribbon Week Committee next week and breakfast for the winning class. On Wednesday, Oct. 26th: we are asking everyone to wear Red helping to promote awareness for drug/alcohol/tobacco prevention. In addition, during all lunch periods, there will be a Hockey Shot (Blackhawks style) competition for the students. Please feel free to come down and show off your puck shooting skills. Friday, Oct. 28th: we will announce the poster decorating contest winner. Mrs. Nagy wanted to share with her CD family that her baby boy was born! Jonathan Joseph Nagy (JJ) was born on 10/16/2016 at 7:58 AM. He was 5 pounds 10 ounces and 19 inches in length. Baby and mom are both healthy and happy, along with JJ's older brother, AJ (Andrew) and dad. Congrats Mrs. Nagy & Nagy family. We are so excited about the new arrival. ![]() Sky High Sport & Autism Speaks Partnership To celebrate “Jump for Autism Speaks October,” we’re hosting a kick off party on Wednesday, October 12th from 3pm - 6pm.
