Learning Gratitude

11/26/2019

The CD students have been learning the purpose of gratitude in the last few weeks.  They have read articles, completed comprehension and self reflection activities.  The classrooms are beaming with student work and everyone is feeling the meaning of the season. Even the CD staff has gotten into a little gratitude fun by "gobbling" a colleague with a small token of appreciation.  The CD Program is full of appreciation and hope it spreads to our families.

Mrs. Lavery's 1st hour science class made our last day before Thanksgiving break even greater with their autumn flavored treats.  They took orders from all staff and students, calculated the amount of ingredients, made the treats, and delivered the treats.

"Give thanks for a little and you will find a lot." ~Hausa Proverb

The Classic CD Program is excited to introduce and welcome Ms. Alexandra (Lexi) Castaneda (“Miss. C”). This semester she is co-teaching with Ms. McGreal and Mr. Bishop.

Ms. Castaneda received her Bachelor's from Indiana University-Bloomington in Speech Pathology with a minor in Psychology and her Master's in Communicative Sciences and Disorders from Michigan State University.  She has had clinical experience at a middle school, an adult transition program, early intervention with toddlers, a traumatic brain injury center, and a skilled nursing facility. Her interests have been centered around educational learning and peer interactions through the facilitation of speech, language, cognition, and social communication. Aside from work, she enjoys hiking, cooking new meals, attending music shows, and lounging around with my cat.

If your son/daughter has Ms. Castaneda as their SLP, on their IEP team, you will receive an email message from her.  If your son/daughter does not have Ms. Castaneda, then the SLP on the IEP team is Mrs. Granato-Wagner.  Please, feel free to email your case manager, if you are unsure who is on your IEP team.

Ms. Castaneda wants to express the following:
"I am excited to have the opportunity to work with your child and be a part of their small team throughout the rest of the school year. I hope to explore various modes of teaching and related services to fully engage my students and demonstrate progress with their speech, language, and social communication goals."

Ms. Castaneda's email is: acastaneda@swcccase.org

Good Luck Ms. Baker!

The Traveling T-Bolt Award is a weekly tribute to a department staff member at Andrew High School.  Each week, a member from a different department is voted on by the entire staff.  The winner from that department is given the "Traveling T-Bolt" trophy to display for the week.  CD is proud to say that Mrs. Lavery was voted to be the T-Bolt winner for CD this last week.
