CD Andrew Discovers Classrooms 165 & 202 visited SouthFork Restaurant in Orland Park for their community outing this month. The food was delicious and the students did a great job ordering what they wanted. The communication abilities vary greatly with our students but that did stop them. While some students used words to tell the server what they wanted, others used sentence strips, Big Mac switch, and AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) devices with amazing success. Students and staff had a blast and enjoyed such a wonderful community outing! Students used different visual supports to communicate what they want for breakfast. Some students ordered off a visual menu, some used AAC devices, others used sentence strips, and some used core communication boards. Comments are closed.
