Ms. McGreal and Mr. Pila's A.P.E. class had a great time participating in a Breakout EDU activity. Breakout EDU games require critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication. Thank you Ms. Sukalo and Ms. Cooler for all of your help! We all had a blast.
As part of our Fall PBIS Kick Off, all of CD High School had a great time with the entire CD Program at Konow's Corn Maze in Homer Glen. The students practiced being safe, respectful, and responsible in a community setting.
CD taught and reinforced the 3 B's of CD through the week of September 10th! The CD team went over the PBIS matrix with students during their Advisory time. Then, participated in an activity. Activities included creating a balloon based sensory tool, a rain sound sensory tool made out of a water bottle, a pledge to follow the 3 B's with paint, and finally a fun Jeopardy game. The program is excited to celebrate with all other CD classes of all ages to Konow's Corn Maze later in September. Look out for permission forms.
CD hopes to challenge, enrich, and celebrate in 2018-19! Teachers have been busy working on classroom design with some motivating themes!
Did your son or daughter tell you about "pie a teacher day"?
On Friday, May 25th, students "bought" a chance to pie a teacher of their choice! Mrs. Kellermann tallied the bucks and announced which students paid the most behavior bucks to pie a teacher. The teachers and students had an amazing time. The photos tell it all from the teachers getting prepped and ready until their doomed fate of a whipped cream face.
It was a celebration to end an amazing school year!
On behalf of the CD Program, have a safe and fun summer! See you in the fall for the 2018-19 school year.
Have you ever wondered what exactly a speech-language pathologist focuses on?
The scope of practice for an SLP is quite extensive. SLPs work with all ages, from infants to adults, on a wide range of communication skills as well as feeding and swallowing. They also work in a variety of settings, such as schools, hospitals, private practice, and skilled nursing facilities.
Speech-Language Pathologist must obtain both their Bachelor and Master Degrees in order to practice. They go through vast training in clinical settings, school and hospital practicums to hone their craft before becoming certified to practice.
