The 8th graders in the CD program at Arbor Park Middle School had the opportunity to join the Arbor Park 8th grade class to their trip to Springfield, IL for a hands on learning experience. We had an action packed day and saw the amazing historical sites Springfield offers in relation to Abraham Lincoln and the history of the State of Illinois. ( Lincoln's Tomb, Lincoln's Home, the Old and Current State Capitol Buildings, and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum to name a few) We ended our trip with a delicious dinner in the auditorium at Illinois State University. What a great experience!!!

The CD Classrooms at Arbor Park enjoyed a beautiful day on the Farm, at The Garden Patch Farm, a local farm located in Homer Glen, IL. This trip was such a great experience for our students. We were able to tour the farm with Farmer Buck who taught us all about the importance of homegrown foods, the process of creating compost and it's role on the farm, and the necessary role of Honeybees! We walked through the fields containing over 55 different vegetables, and a wide variety of fruits. We had the opportunity to see the greenhouse and sample the fresh strawberries! They were delicious! After our tour, we enjoyed the petting zoo, fed the chickens, solved the corn maze and conquered the tower of hay! It was a fun-filled Fall activity for everyone!
