C12 joined our friends in C11 and Mrs. Tuffs' class to make our very own snow during Advisory! We mixed baking soda and shaving cream to make snow for all to share! Students took turns mixing and perfecting our winter experiment! It was a great end to a snowy week!
On our last day before Fall Break, we enjoyed a Charlie Brown Feast (i.e. popcorn, jelly beans, pretzels, and toast/crackers) with our friends in C12 while we watched A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. We practiced using our manners (being respectful) and enjoyed helping Daniel celebrate his first Thanksgiving in America! We are thankful for all of our friends and family this season and all year long!
In C11, we celebrated two holidays related to the end of Autumn - Halloween (or Samhain as it was originally known) and Dia De Los Muertos (or Day of the Dead). We learned the histories of both holidays and compared and contrasted important facts about each. For example, we dress up in scary costumes for Halloween so we blend in with visiting spirits and they will leave us alone. However, for Dia De Los Muertos, we place candles, marigolds, and pictures out so the spirits of our ancestors will visit us. We love when our social studies lessons lead to parties/fiestas in C11!
