What is an HCBS Waiver?A waiver is a program that provides services that allow individuals to remain in their own homes or live in a community setting, instead of in an institution. Illinois has nine HCBS waivers. Each waiver is designed for individuals with similar needs and offers a different set of services.
Who is eligible for a HCBS Waiver?
  1.  Individuals must be U.S. citizens or legal aliens and residents of the state of Illinois;
  2.  Individuals must meet Medicaid financial eligibility criteria as specified in each waiver;
  3.  Individuals must require an institutional level of care as specified in each waiver;
  4.  Individuals' service needs must be able to be provided in the waiver at a cost equal to or less than  the cost for institutional care; and
  5.  Individuals must meet any other requirements, such as age or diagnosis requirements, specific to  the waiver program.

ELSA Preview Days, Spring 2020

The Elmhurst Learning and Success Academy (ELSA) is a four-year, post-secondary certificate program for young adults, ages 18-28, with differing abilities. The ELSA  Preview Day is led by an admission counselor and features a brief info session about the program, a student-led tour of our beautiful campus followed by a complimentary lunch with current ELSA students and staff. You will also have the opportunity to participate in an interactive student panel.  You'll get the inside scoop on campus life, learn about the admission and financial aid process, and begin building your own Elmhurst Experience!

The ELSA Preview day is a great way for families to visit the Elmhurst College campus and meet current ELSA students and staff. They will get a glimpse of campus life during a typical school day at Elmhurst College.

At this event families will:

  • Attend a brief info session about the ELSA Program 
  • Enjoy a student lead campus tour of our beautiful campus
  • Have a complementary lunch with current ELSA students and staff 
  • Participate in a student panel and learn about the day-to-day life of an ELSA student
Additional Dates to Visit This Spring
March ELSA Preview Day will be on Wednesday evening, March 18.

ELSA-PALOOZA 12 will be on Thursday, April 9 (RSVP link coming soon)!
