Cannot Believe He's the Same Kid!

5/18/2017

Testimonial from Early Childhood parent:
"I just wanted to share with you how great M. has been [doing] this week. We all noticed a lot better eye and emotional contact, more socialization, and so active. Thank you for sharing all he does and accomplished over there [Oakwood Elementary]. Here are some new things he does at home.
  • Washes hands independently
  • Prays in Spanish (repeating after me)
  • Listens attentive to our night reading time
  • Requests a lot new items like "Kleenex, please"
  • Get dressed by himself
  • Loves to sing calendar song
  • Takes turns with his brother
Oh my! This week I cannot believe I have the same M."

Thank You

"I would like to say thank you very much for everything you have done for my son and all the students in the CD program. We were very lucky to have come to Andrew and [to] be part of this wonderful program. And what made this program great was that you were the key component that made this program work so well. Achievement night was great . We had a great time.  I was very proud of my son's speech and how he spoke to the audience. Honestly all the students did a great job. They could only have accomplished this with your help and all the help of the other teachers.  God bless you all for the wonderful job yiu have done. I am very grateful. Thank you again for all your efforts, and please keep on helping students achieving their dreams.

CD is "Spot On"

4/18/2016

“I am so excited for this [Caitlyn’s IEP] meeting. You have pegged her spot on! It’s night and day with Caitlyn compared to where she was last year. This is the first time ever that people have gotten her and have fully understood her. This entire school year she now gets herself up with her alarm clock, packs her book bag, makes her own breakfast, and walks out with a smile on her face. Before it was nothing but tears and headaches trying to get her to go to school. And, the goals that you (CD staff at Andrew High School) have written are so spot on.”

Reflecting after a child's IEP meeting

12/16/2014

Not that the process is ever easy, but today's meeting was thorough, on point, and truly reflected my child's needs.  The progress she has made under the guidance and leadership of the CD team is amazing and for that we will always be thankful.  To keep her with the same core of teachers has been a gift.  I spent years advocating for my child only for all the players to achieve understanding as she transitioned to the next group.

I appreciate your caring, listening and understanding.  I appreciate your willingness to push her, to not accept excuses, and to work in tandem with her family.

Your passion and dedication is amazing and will truly have a life long impact on our family.  Please know that what you do matters, more than any state test, evaluation, or administrator report could ever capture. Because of you a young girl has grown intellectually, emotionally and socially.  There is still a distance to go, but so much has already been learned.

Thank you!!
